The Naga

They were here before anyone else, and they will be here after.

That is not a boast. The Naga do not boast. It is simply what they believe, stated as fact, in the same tone they use to describe the weather or the colour of stone.

Very little is known about the Naga by outsiders. They live underground, or in the deep valleys of the eastern Borgulm, or both. They are rarely seen. When they are seen, it is because they have chosen to be — and there is usually a reason.

They are not hostile. They are not friendly. They are patient in a way that makes human patience look like fidgeting. A Naga who wants to speak with you will wait until you are ready. A Naga who does not want to speak with you will simply not be there.

The few reliable accounts agree on this: they are very, very old.
