The Long Road East

The Story

When the last bridge over the Velorin falls, four people who have nothing in common find themselves heading east for reasons they do not fully share. The road is long. The mountains are worse. And the Damaged Lands beyond them are exactly as bad as the stories say — which is to say, the stories don't cover the half of it.

This is not a story about saving the world. The world is not asking to be saved. This is a story about four people trying to reach a place that may not exist anymore, carrying debts they cannot pay, through a landscape that changes in ways maps cannot capture.

They will argue. They will get lost. They will discover that the continent they thought they knew has been keeping secrets. And they will learn — slowly, reluctantly, and at considerable personal cost — that the hardest part of any journey is deciding what to carry.
