Northern Coast

Velorin Coast

The largest settlement on Enedal — canals, harbours, and markets that smell of tar and spice.

The largest and most prosperous settlement on Enedal: canals, harbours, bridges, markets that smell of tar and spice. Founded two centuries ago by Velhari who refused the wars of expansion and walked north rather than fight their own.

The city sprawls across both banks of the river mouth, connected by seven bridges of varying age and ambition. The oldest, the Dyers’ Crossing, is barely wide enough for a cart. The newest, the Merchants’ Span, could hold a parade. Below them, the canal network threads through the lower quarters where most of the real work happens — loading, unloading, mending, building, arguing about the price of salt.

There is no wall. The founders did not believe in them. What Velorin has instead is a harbour deep enough for ocean-going vessels, a reputation for fair dealing, and a very well-organised night watch.
