Book One — Progress Note

The manuscript for The Long Road East is in its final chapters.

This has been a longer road than expected — which feels appropriate, given the title. The story follows four people heading east across a continent they do not fully understand, and it turns out that writing their journey has required understanding it first.

Some things that happened during the writing: the map changed three times. A character who was meant to be minor refused to stay minor. The ending I had planned turned out to be the ending of a different book — one I will write later, but not this one.

What I can say: the book will be finished this year. The world is bigger than one volume can hold, but this volume will hold enough to stand on its own.
